ski/camp out of Frisco?

sorry for the additional post. but as i look into it, it seems that my only good option to get into the mountains with public transportation from Denver is via Greyhound on I-70. i can stop at Frisco or Vail for $14. Does anyone know of a spot out of Frisco or Vail i can hike out, setup a tent and do some backcountry? also if you know what the temps are like at ~10,000 in late October that would help a lot too! i'll be in Denver Oct 19-23. thanks.

I have no idea for backcountry around Frisco but suspect there is something around. Maybe check this site for Frisco info: http://www.townoffrisco.com/ I would put in a call to the Chamber of Commerce in Frisco and ask them. There is probably some nutter there who knows.
