Though the (later revised) 5:24 am report attributed paradise being down due to "routine maintenance", word is its due to mechanical breakdown. Why the misinformation? Whats the real story? "What you will get is honesty and no false promises."

One of the snow rpeorters, I don't know who, made that post in the snow report, and was in error calling it "routine maintenance". Poiny would be right in calling it unscheduled maintenance, especially when such maintenance is brought on by large sparks flying out of the motor house. Oh well. It happens. It was the throwout bearing last year, now the electric motor.

reduced capacity
What's the story on paradise not loading triples much of the time, over the past weekend? Briefly on Saturday they were allowing triples, then it was back to doubles only...

I posted this in the Mom thread too... One of the three transfomers that provide power to the entire resort (except Silverlode) failed. Fortis replaced it with a temporary smaller unit that can't provide enough current for Paradise to start with a full load. The doubles reduce the load enough to keep the current low enough to allow the lift to start. The rebuilt proper sized transformer is supposed to be installed tonight.
