So the Nova Scotia Government announced new legislation that it will implement the world's toughest mandatory ski helmet law.

At the beginning of the 2012 - 2013 season helmet use will be mandatory for downhill skiers and snowboarders at the provinces three ski areas. People riding and skiing on other private or public property will not be required to wear them.

Although the ski areas will have to post very clear and obvious signage they will not be responsible for enforcement which will apparently fall to the Department of Health & Wellness inspectors.

No compliance fines will cost $250.00 per offence.

It is only a matter of time before this type of legeslation trickles across Canada now.

Thoughts?

Rad!

As far as I'm concerned anything that eliminates personal choice and accountability is great!  It'll be even better if they can somehow ensure that the policing costs tax payers as much as possible.  Remember, the state always knows whats best for it's citizens!

In all seriousness, you'd think they might have learnt something from the failed bicycle helmet laws in Halifax...

you don't want to hit your

you don't want to hit your head skiing in Nova Scotia. "Packed Powder"? not there. Ice on Ice.

Should be common sense though, not government crap.

Those who like it, like it a lot.
