Looking for Big White backcountry info and touring buddies
Sat, 2006-10-21 09:55
Hi All, I'll be spending the season in Big White and I'll be looking for touring and slackcountry opportunities on my days off. I'd also like to meet some touring buddies. I've got some experience touring in the Rockies and the CAA Level 1. Is there much around the resort or will I be road-tripping to Revelstoke? Let me know!

Backcountry options
I think there are no many options for backcountry around big white. I think your best option is to check out malakwa or revelstoke. You could also go to cherryville, I heard there is some backcountry around there.

^^^^ Big White has some fun slackcountry, easy access, some cool little terrain features. Good to hit to hit when the resort is worked. Cliff chair area is good as well with short boot pack to east peak. Do a photo search for big white I have posted quite a few of the north face and east peak. Malakwa is f-ing wicked with short easy access. more photos as well. Cherryville has potential but there are longer hikes, Keefer lake off of monashee pass is somewhere i am looking in to this winter, they have a fishing lodge at about 4500 ft with short tours and sled access to some fun stuff just south of the Pinnacle range. Roger's pass is a bit of a trip but doable in a day, it would be a 4:30am mission from Big White though. |
