Looking for backcountry options in the okanagan

Working a small film project over the winter, would like to focus on the okanagan. Home base is kelowna/bigwhite and silverstar. We are from ontario and are looking at getting into some backcountry touring in the okanagan ( something that has not been filmed very often) Looking into day trips mostly , maybe a few over nights if need be . Would love to chat or even meet up head out get some turns and lil filming in and a little exposure if you're looking for it. This seems to be the only site out there with any info on the subject, i understand by reading just about evey el hefe post on the net that big white has some decent slackcountry and the back side ( and east peak) looks pretty epic. When it comes to off resort however i am lost and have no idea where to even start.I have been skiing for 15 yrs so i am quite and stong skier and could take on challenging terrain even though i have only skied steeps and the odd ( very odd) chute out on the canadian shield. I have a backroads map book just need to know where to look. Any one ski grandy prov park? Looks like some good lines to be had there. If anyone has info, wants ski buddies or even play tour guide for some epic turns please do let me know Kyle

Come check out Mt Baldy just
Come check out Mt Baldy just outside Oliver this season. We are closed tuesday-thursday so we have 3 days for fresh snow to pile up. We also only have lift access halfway up the hill so anything above the lifts is untouched with some drops.

Lots of great options north
Lots of great options north and east of silver star in the monashees. There are only a few that don't require a sled though. Check out some of my posts on the tgr site. Hopefully we will be skiing in 2 months or so. First turns last year were Oct 4th on a little pocket glacier near revy. November was epic as well at the local touring spot. and apex has some pretty
and apex has some pretty wicked b/c terrain but it needs to be a big snow year.

great tips guys . Il'l be sure to add them to the list! I just moved from ontario and i am just getting into the " earn your turns " mind set. Ive only done a few 600 vert climbs in ontario, Im going to be using snowshoes until i can get a proper skin set up . Anything i should hit first to get some learning experience? As soon as the snow base is deep enough i will be hicking up bigwhite but into the year id like to get into some bigger terrain. Any sugestions for a newb is welcome!

You should hook up with Matt and educate yourself if you haven't all ready done so. Here's some info on his courses (most of which seem to take place at Big White):Avalanche Safety Training Level I
