Dynafit Toe Piece Pull Out
Mon, 2011-01-03 12:20
I'm curious if anyone has ever had their Dynafit bindings pull out of their ski while skiing? I blew my toe piece out this week on a groomer and I'm gathering information about how common this is? I went to spray a friend and did a pretty hard hockey stop. I almost took his head off as my ski flew off. The binding clearly pulled out of it's setting in the ski. I've been hearing from some engineers and gear testers that these bindings do not belong on fat skis. I'm curious about all and any opinions about this.
thanks

more a problem due to a weak
more a problem due to a weak ski / poor screws than a problem caused by the binding eh? just drill thru and recess some t nuts into the base of the ski

Toe piece ripped out!
Yeah I ripped my toepiece out of my wood core coombaks after I shifted weight into the backseat on a 2 foot landing. Bottom line, if your resort-skiing or freeriding all mountain terrain, you need a metal laminate/topsheet ski to give strength and integrity to the mount. I went with some conical ptex backed t-nuts that come with a bit that is designed for usage with the t-nuts. I put two on the front right n left screw and helicored' the rest. Light base grind, structure, and wax n' go! It's been super solid since. |
