Fortunately for Ian McIntosh, Canada's health insurance system still insures for folks with pre-existing conditions, like having a few screws loose upstairs. You're not supposed to be able to ski La Grave—a place infamous for pants-shitting steeps and deadly exposure—at the speeds Mac and Johnny Collinson do in this episode of Sony Mind's Eye, so maybe socialized medicine is playing a part in...

The town was descending into madness.  Parties never ended, breakfast beers became the norm and late night birddogging was rife amongst the select few fated ones calling the place home for winter.  Skiers and Snowboarders paced the streets and waxed lyrical about the past winters, a few battled to remember where they lived having spent so much time floating from bar to couch to bed to...

Even though it would probably be the scariest day of your life, think how fun it would be fun to go shredding with these crazy frenchies in Chamonix. This movie looks amazing!

Antoine Boisselier has stared across at the Belledonne Mountains his whole life. He's always dreamed of laying ski tracks on their difficult-to-access slopes. Two years ago, he and a group of close friends launched their paragliders from across the valley and took a chance.

Here's a barrage of Freeride madness from the FWT CHamonix 2013. Everyone always says that true progression happens when people take freestyle moves into big mountain terrain, and we definitely saw a lot of that on the last two tour stops. The athletes get a bit of rest now as they prep themselves for the Kirkwod Comp at the end of February.

Once again, the FWT happened while we were sleeping last night. Actually, the snowboarders started streaming live at midnight which was awesome to watch after a few Friday Night beers. This is the future baby, and if the future means we get to watch Big Mountain Comps, nicely edited, as they happen, then the future's all right for me. Hit up www.freerideworldtour.com for full write-ups, replays...

Andreas Fransson has been called the boldest extreme skier in a generation. Over the past 3 years he's logged first descents in a half-dozen countries, battled back to life from an accident that nearly killed him, and become the most talked about skier in the epicenter of all things extreme -- Chamonix, France. What makes Andreas most intriguing, however, are his thoughtful musings on meaning...

Despite the underwhelming winter of 2011-12, in which snowfall reached near record lows and unstable avalanche conditions, the Powderwhores were able to make the most of the conditions at home and abroad, with trips to Cerro Castillo, Chile; LaGrave, France; the Antarctic Peninsula; Svalbard, Norway; Mount Foraker, Alaska; British Columbia, Canada, and the Wasatch Mountains in Utah.

Hey man....you remember that time in the early 80s when we were riding that filthy line in europe, laying out tasty slashes in our sandal strap bindings, and we got chased by like 25 monoboarders? Then we aired that train to get away from them and once we were back in the alpine we went paragliding, then we took some rafts through some pow and then jumped out of a hot air baloon? Well, it's been...

There is sad news today in the world of speed flying. Reknowned star Antoine Montant has been found by friends dead in the mountains after he went for a solo wing suit descent. Just Acro reported the news on their website earlier today. Antoine was known for his speed flying descents of the Eiger and for skimming the cable line on a lift in Chamonix. He was 30 years old.

Many in North America have heard of Xavier de le Rue but don't know much else about this big mountain shredder, even though he's the 3 time, World Freeride Tour Snowboard Champion and looking like a shoe-in for a 4th title. Biglines.com caught up with Xavier to chat about his webisodes, his raddest big lines and the criticism that he's got a reckless style.
