It was a ski west black boot bag with Nordica 12 Beasts and a Giro fuse helmet inside. I didn't notice till we got to the parking lot and phoned my family to try to get somebody to pick them up but I couldn't get any answer on the phone and had to just leave messages. They didn't check them fast enough and somebody swiped my boots. Pretty fucking pissed off at this, what are you going to do with them? They're useless to sell (old and a fair bit of cosmetic damage) and not worth much to anybody but me. FUCK YOU, YOU ASSHOLE GEAR STEALER! So now I'm not sure what I'm going to do, I don't have enough for a new pair of boots but I'm trying to work something out and get a small loan from some family members. <br /> <br />Oh, and when renting "high performance" boots...don't expect much. Basically got shin bang from just walking around, I only hucked 2 things today because of the boots and it was extremely painful for most of the day. But it was bluebird pow, I had no other choice. <br />Despite the boots I had a super fun day riding with you Gurpy, Thanks for showing me around the West. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70157.jpg" /> <br />Gurpy working down into Peyto’s. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70158.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70159.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70160.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70161.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70162.jpg" /> <br />The point. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70163.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70165.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70166.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70167.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70168.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70169.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70170.jpg" /> <br />I love this chute <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70171.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70172.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70173.jpg" /> <br /> <br /> <br />12.30 <br />Lake Louise <br />“To children of all ages, Christmas means, GAPER ATTACK!” <br />Everything got fucked up by wind the night before, hardpack everywhere. I was very disappointed with conditions after the past 2 days but made the best of it. Skied some fun lines and at least I could avoid the rocks because of the lack of fresh snow. Very cool sunrise. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70179.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70177.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70176.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70175.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70174.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70180.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70181.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70178.jpg" /> <br /> <br /> <br />12.31 <br />Backdoor cliffs / Slackcountry around SSV <br />I’ve been meaning to head out this way for a long time to check this rock band out. Conditions in bounds were still shit so Jeff and I wasted no time heading for the gate. Past 6 different groups of boarders, all of them without any gear, scary stuff. This is the biggest cliff I’ve ever hit and it was awesome. Jeff had a really bad crash the day before at Louise. He hit a small drop then caught an edge above a stretched out 20 foot cliff with rocks all over the landing and on the other side a big bamboo fence covering some hazard that I couldn’t see. He got really lucky and narrowly missed several rocks and his only injuries were hitting his head on the fence (broke the fence, sorry to any who work patrol at LL) and he hurt his leg. He wasn’t feeling hucking the biggest part of the cliff and I don’t blame him. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70185.jpg" /> <br />The goal. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70187.jpg" /> <br />Bootpacking <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70183.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70188.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70184.jpg" /> <br />We got some nice turns on the way… <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70189.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70190.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70182.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70186.jpg" /> <br />Jeff playing on the smaller stuff, I’m jealous of his form. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70191.jpg" /> <br />Round one was a disaster. I was immediately thrown over the handlebars on the landing and proceeded to do 3 full flips before finally stopping. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70192.jpg" /> <br />Round 2, I win. Took it with a lot more heat this time and sent it, stomped the landing clean. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70193.jpg" /> <br />Right when I landed, 25 feet from take off to landing. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70194.jpg" /> <br /> <br />Fernie 1.2-5 <br />Weather: Tuesday: 20-30cm snow, strong-extreme SW winds, freezing levels rising. Tuesday night: 10-20cm snow, strong-extreme SW winds, freezing levels 1700m. Wednesday: 5-10cm snow, moderate-strong W winds, freezing levels at surface. Issued by: Tom Chalmers <br /> <br />It was looking really really good. Then it rained. Poured actually. <br /> <br />We got to ski a bit of rain crust on our first day there but the Griz was good and gave us about 50-60cm of new snow during our stay. Obviously this improved conditions slightly. <br />We didn’t take tons of photos because the light was either too flat, conditions sucked too much, or it was too good to stop. We had first tracks down some of the lower trees in Currie on the 4th and first tracks down the upper saddle when it was opened on Friday. Much of the terrain was closed due to extreme avalanche hazard. Over the course of our stay I had 3 slabs break on me in bounds. None of them were big enough to bury anybody and only one of them ran more than 10 feet. It was heavy, wet snow on top of a rain crust so it was a pretty shallow instability but defiantly scared the shit out of me when I saw it crack. The first time was in the trees and it only fractured about 4 feet forward from me and slid about 8-10 feet. Nothing bigger than the sluffing I was getting (which I got a lot of all weekend). The second one was on my last day after skiing one of the Saddles. I traversed a little bit for some fresh snow on the apron which was some of my favorite skiing all weekend because it was just giant GS turns on an open powder field the whole way down. It crack as soon as I got onto the patch and I didn’t stick around to check out what was happening, I straightlined the rest of the apron (it’s only about 250 meters long). Turned out to be very small but this was enough for me to put my beacon on for the rest of the day. On my last run of the trip I released a larger slab. I was searching for snow and ducked into some trees. I pointed it through a short tight tree chute and then made one big powerful turn at the end to burn some speed, at this point I saw it break a bit above my turn and in front of me. I continued my direction of travel and dug into the snow on a small rib in the terrain. Watching the snow run off and keep going for about 80 meters this time was sobering. I’m glad I brought my beacon with me to Fernie even though I had no plans of skiing out of bounds. <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70212.jpg" /> <br />Red X is where I triggered it, black X is where the avy stopped. Look closely you can see the debris pile. <br /> <br />Other than that, I had a great time. <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/800x800/biglines_70209.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70208.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/800x800/biglines_70207.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70206.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70205.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70204.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70203.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70202.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70201.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70200.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70199.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70197.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70196.jpg" /> <br /> <br /><img width="490px" src="http://www.biglines.com/photosv2/2007/01/120x120/biglines_70195.jpg" /> <br /> <br /> <br />This whole thing came from me being to lazy to post a TR so I figured I’d just do one big one after my break. <br />The past 2 weeks have been unforgettable for multiple reasons. Hope you like it. <br />

Hope you like it. <br />
