Cat rip at Island Lake
I was gifted an early present this christmas. 50cms of fresh and free ticket to bum a ride in a Cat at Island Lake Lodge. It was my first time out and I am already craving more. Poor light and instability kept us in the trees for the most part on Mt. Baldy, but the snow was some of the best I've ever skied.
The day got interesting when a female skier in our group dropped in a line which had just been skied by 5 people and released a slab about 60 deep, a little class 1 which chased her down, nipping at her ankles. Shes skied it like a champion though, and everyone shared a reserved chuckle about the event. Its what you've got to expect these days. especially with recent storm cycles! Booooya.
