Deep on Nov. 17th...
Submited By skimau On 2007-12-23
The first day on skis after a long summer is like your real first time, just better! Because you can repeat it year after year after.. :-)
This winter-season's first time on skis was my best ever! It was plenty of first times leading into a Grand Finale really!
It was the first time skiing that early in the year, on Nov.17th! It was (believe it or not) the first time I skied in my home country Germany as well as skiing into Austria from there. It was the first time skiing, after I got a metal rod removed out of my tibia only 4 weeks earlier. But most importantly:
It was the first time in my skier-life that I skied waist-deep Champagne-Powder for 1000m vertical, no changing conditions, just floating-puff- feeling free-puff- and alive-puff! I skied all day with such a big grin on my face, that my cheeks hurt at night! It was the best present after surgery and rehab and I call myself very lucky! And the ultimate thing about it: the second day was just as good! And that in November, UNBELIEVABLE!!! (see picture)
