HAPPY WITH NOTHING - OR EVERYTHING

As far as Novembers go, this one has been pretty cool. It started with the annual fall family surf trip. This year was Maui and the waves were very nice.

As soon as we got back I headed to the UK to play special guest for the opening of England's newest indoor ski area -- Manchester Chill Factore. It was pretty cool as far as indoor places go, but the real highlight of the trip was spending a day at Rossendale Dry Slope. The Brits are totally insane and will go to any length to slide on skis or a board. I've never met a more enthusiastic group of skiers. I mean, they have nothing (no snow, no mountains) and they are so pumped on the sport it's amazing. Totally inspiring and humbling. As weird as it sounds, it was the perfect way to start the season.

On opening day here at Whistler I was across the world shredding plastic instead of snow, but when I got home I couldn't believe how good the skiing was. It almost makes me feel guilty living here because we have it so good. Thanks to new my new friends in England, I'm more pumped than ever to be home skiing powder everyday.
