BC's newest Snowcat Ski Operation
Submited By Monasheemountaincats On 2007-11-26
Monasheemountaincats is BC's newest Snow Cat operation. We are based in Sicamous but our tenured area is 1/2 way between Sicamous and Revelstoke in the Monashee Mountains (where the snow is nice and deep)

Greetings from Monashee Mountain Cats (BC's newest Snow Cat Ski operation). The winter of 07-08 marks our 1st season in business, but we have been skiing and snowboarding throughout this area for the better part of the past 14 winters. We have many good memories and stories from these trips and look forward to adding more in future seasons.

We are basing ourselves out of the Best Western in Sicamous for this upcoming season...with plans to build a remote backcountry lodge (construction to start spring 08).

Our tenured area is 1/2 way between Sicamous and Revelstoke, about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Calgary or 5 1/2 hours from Vancouver. From the base in Sicamous it is a short 20 minute drive to our staging area where the snowcat is waiting, then approximatly a 45-50 minute ride in the cat up to our ski area.

We (on November 25th) have an base of nearly 2 meters (6-7 feet!) at treeline, and trust me boarding is in mid winter form in the alpine and sub-alpine. We have a great mix of trees and open bowls, and much of our area is North or East aspects so it holds the snow. We have a range of runs from steep trees to open crusiers and a nice mix of variety for everyone.

As this is our 1st season in business the chance is there for our guests to be the very 1st to ski a previously un-skied line, and discover (with us) the hidden corners of our area.

Road building is in full force with our "work cat" out plowing and smoothing things up nicely.

Check our website out for updates, and we are in the planning stages of opening even earlier in Mid December rather than our forecast date of January 3rd because the snow is so nice and needs a track or 3 put down it. These early season dates will be a great bargian so be sure to check us out. Monasheemountaincats.com
