After a long work trip this fall to Antarctica I finally got to go skiing on Dec 28. I had been home in Golden for less than 12 hours when I connected with Dave Treadway and we went on a sled ski mission in the Dogtooth Range. Dave had a pretty good handle on conditions and so I followed him around to some objectives. We found some good snow and had a quad busting day.

The first line we skied. My first run of the season. It was pretty wind and sun effected.

Dave spotted some guy that had tomahawked his sled 10-15 times and we went to see if he was ok. It turned out to be Doug Ward who was shuttling his daughter around. Sorry Dougy! I had to!

We ended up working this north facing slope. We each skied several line on it. The snow was consistent and felt like velvet. My quads were screaming at the bottom of each run.

All in all, a pretty sick first day of skiing for the season. Hopefully there will be plenty more.
