Talent is developed through discipline and in Chris Barker's case it's through disciplines. At 20 years of age, it would seem that this Golden local is showing signs of making a mark that few will be able to rival.

How have you dedicated your life to the pursuit of freedom, adventure and lifestyle?I moved to Golden when I was 18, after my plans of going to Whistler fell
through. It turned out to be way better then I could have imagined. I've worked at the ski hill for two years learning every drop, line and secret stash. And then when the summer hit I was blown away. I liked it more than the winter! Already this summer I've biked and paraglided down Mt.7, rafted the whole Kicking Horse River(and kayaked the last section), rope swung at cedar lake, and partied hard at Georgefest. I'd say my lifestyle is definitely geared towards adventure. And just recently I've hooked up with Ryan Johannesen to help film in his upcoming production company(Big Mtn Cnd Productions). I even got my brother to move up here and ride. As for freedom... I just broke up with my girlfriend and I couldn't be anymore free to do as I please.

Describe your best trip: past, present (last year), and future (upcoming).Definitely our trip to Calgary for the Snow Film Fiesta and Canadian Air&
Style comp! Just the usual drunken snowboarder trip, getting kicked out of Wiley Coyotes, drunk tank, puke down the side of my blazer, oh and riding at C.O.P for the Big Air.

What are you trying to accomplish with your skiing/snowboarding? How is this significant to our community?I used to ski race and then quit once snowboarding came out. I boarded non-stop till last year when I got back on my skis. I noticed a few advancements in skis since back in the day. It looked like a lot more fun now. So I got a pair of Rossignol "Scratches" and I was set. Man did I have fun. Learning all these new tricks on skis, switch takeoffs and landings plus just skiing powder! Because they're so fat I just float. way better than catching my tips on skinny's.

Anyways next year I plan to ski AND ride as much as I can. Hopefully some sledding and lots of filming with some comps thrown in! I want to do both disciplines equalley as well. Everyone concentrates on one or the other, there's not too many ppl out there that do both just as well. I'd like to be that person someday, to drop the same 50 footer on skis and board.

Any other comments you’d like to make? (Thank yous? Statements?…)
Thanks to my friend Chad who's helped me out and put up with my sh#t. Best guy in the world. Ryan Johannesen, My bro who shows me up all the time, my parents, and sister too. Thank you.

Also Rossignol Snowboards who flowed me this winter and of course Manning Park Resort, the best kept secret in B.C
