Dave Treadway has been making his mark on South Eastern BC, by being one of the most stoked rippers out there.
Last year, the first Freeride Scholarship interview we received back turned out to produce the overall winner; is this year the same?
name: Dave Treadway
age: 18 or 19, depends on if I need to enter a comp or not.
nickname: scratchy, scarecrow, stinky pete, little air.
home mountain: Mt. Evergreen, ON
weapons of choice: Anything that won't BREAK...would love to ride the new Volkl bigmountain sticks.
How have you dedicated your life to the pursuit of freedom, adventure and lifestyle?
I've dedicated my life to Christ and he's led me into all of the above; taking me all over the world and hooking me up with cool toys to play with.
Describe your best trip: past, present (last year), and future (upcoming). I really enjoyed the Red comp trip I was able to do last winter. My bro Daryl and I hooked up his camo trailer to my truck and headed out from Fernie. The comp went so smoothly even though I didn't qualify cuz the judges thought my wall ride to lincoln loop was not on purpose. What do they know?!
Even though I wasn't able to move on, It was sick just seeing the gnar that went down. Moss Patterson, my hero, killed it on the last day and I couldn't believe I saw it with my own eyes.
Miraculously, Moss invited me up to ski with him in Nelson in front of Matt Shoal and Doug Lepage's lenses. Unbelievable day in the backcountry and cool time chillin’ with the Pattersons (rad family). On the way back to Fernie, I forgot about the time change and at the top of Salmo-Creston Pass I figured out that the bowler’s [the camo trailer’s] non-existing lights could be a problem in
the dark. Stopped and skied pow for two days.
Next year I want to continue to push my style and focus on being the best skier I can possibly be. I don't have a set agenda yet because I like to go with the flow.I have thoughts of doing a trip to Val Desare and help start up Snowboarders for Christ in their community. I also have a friend who's talking smack about starting a crew and making a movie that I'm interested in supporting. Basically, I just want to be at there (wherever) when it's happening.
What are you trying to accomplish with your skiing/snowboarding? How is this significant to our community? I push the sport as much as I can with a positive attitude. I'd like to think my skiing makes others want to rip more and harder, especially at a
young age.
Any other comments you’d like to make? (Thank yous? Statements?…)
Thanks:
God, fam and rippers who push me!
-expect the worst, hope for the best.
