Whistler has always had a reputation for a gathering place of fine talent and we found no exception. We were lucky enough to spend a few days out there last spring and had the awesome opportunity of riding with 3 of the most solid young skiers I've ever seen. Matt, Michelle and Dom. BL: Where are you from?

Matt:
Moncton NB


BL: How long have
you lived in Whistler?

Matt: A bit over 2 years.


BL: Why did you move here?

Matt: The Mountains Man, and
the snow for sure.



BL: When did you start skiing?


Matt: At 3 years old, my dad's
a big skier, he brought me to so many different places when I was
a kid.I was pretty lucky ..


BL: Home Mountain?

Matt: Poley Mountain, Sussex,
New Brunswick


BL: How do you support yourself?

Matt: I work nights in a tuning
center, and I stopped drinking so much


BL: How many days a year do
you get in?

Matt: Probably 150 -160


BL: What's your favorite type
of skiing?

Matt: Fresh lines man, pillow
fields, continuous faceshots, something steep and
scary with hits off shit .


BL: Favorite people to ride
with?

Matt: Dominic, Michelle, Kris
and who ever wants to shred .


BL: Favorite Place to ride?


Matt: BLACKCOMB,..:, the trees
around Crystal and everything else on the rock


BL: Favorite line?

Matt: It must have been the
Fissile. Once we came down Calvin and Hobbes, me and Dominic. First
ones there on a bluebird powder day totally untracked, 40+ waste
deep turns and we had just finished spinning one.It was sick.


BL: Favorite Magazine?

Matt: Powder, I've been reading
it for a while, every time there is a new one I just gotta go see
it, dualing banjos and stuff-SKIER is pretty cool too.


BL: Favorite Movie?

Matt: Global Storming, MSP


BL: Heroes/Influences?

Matt: My bro Dan Jello Biafra

BL: How come Frenchies are
ripping so hard?

Matt: Cause we rip hard, we
were brought up skiing on shit, we can huck ourselves off anything
and it doesn't hurt, it's all ice back home. A lot to do with the
jumping scene too, there's nothing else to then build booters. The
French Connection.


BL: What do you ski on?

Matt: Rossignol; all my life
pretty much
