The last thing I see is a wall of snow approaching at lightning speed. It hits me in the face. I sputter and cough. Then I start laughing. I look down at my camera, which is completely covered in fluffy white powder. "Shane, what the hell?" I yell. He starts laughing too, "Dude, I wasn't thinking. Sorry."

I guess this is what I have to expect while shooting this type of photography. I was using my wide angle lens, so Shane was supposed to turn around me super close, but instead he turned away from me and showered me with a snowboard-induced wave of destruction. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating slightly on the destruction part...

This is just a little snippet from a wonderful weekend of shredding up at Kicking Horse. The Horse has to be my favorite spot in Canada, as it reminds me fondly of good ol' ridge skiing up in Engelberg, Switzerland. You can access near-endless slack-country terrain from the top of the gondola. We hiked to the peak one bowl over from Terminator in less than 30 minutes. There was everything you could want; cliffs, trees, chutes, pow fields, almost all untouched. Just remember your transceivers! And now that the new bridge coming into Golden is complete, the drive from Calgary for was 2.5 hours (3 if you're conservative). This makes it doable as a day trip for the hardcore, and totally manageable for a weekend.

Check the pics for some cliff shots off of Whitewall, and Shane not snowing the cameraman. Thanks to Ryan Warshawski for the photo of me dropping Pride Rock and the photo of Shane ripping the trees.
