Ever been skiing in Greenland? Or Iceland? Or New Zeeland? Or Chile? Or Argentina, or Bolivia? If not, then here's your chance to at least get an idea of what it's like. Because "Vertical Way Around", the project of three Swedish freeski globetrotters (35 countries, 70 ski regions, twelve months) has just done the South America part of their around the world skiing journey.

VERTICAL WAY AROUND
12 month – 35 countries – more then 70 ski areas!!!

Skiers are dreamers. Whether the dream is to do heli skiing in the shadow of Everest in Nepal, swoop down some nameless glacier in Greenland, or to be one of the rare visitors to ski the remote areas of India, your own personal skier’s odyssey only comes to a close when you cease to dream and make things happen.

Three Swedish (living in Chamonix, France) free skiing globetrotters are now living their long time dream – Ski all continents of the world during 12 consecutive months.

The journey started on May 1, 2007, and by now have Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia been covered. It’s though plenty more to cover before the journey ends back home in Chamonix mid May, 2008.

The journey is very much about skiing as a lifestyle and exploring new terrain around the world. It’s also about three individuals meeting people of different culture and as well experience unique items in the different countries along the journey – items such as:

• sea kayaking in Greenland
• tiger safari in India
• downhill mountain bike on Death Road, Bolivia
• awesome foursome in New Zealand
• sand dune skiing in Dubai
• etc.

The focus is free skiing and to take the skiing beyond traditional ski lifts in to the backcountry in all the places they’ll visit. It’s a quick pace around the world with stops of 2-5 days in each place.

The intention is to make a documentary movie about the entire journey – covering skiing, travel, people, experiences, etc. The guys are also equipped with individual camcorders to film a personal diary covering their personal thoughts, experiences and emotions as a part of the documentary.

They are right now taking a two months brake (surfing in Costa Rica & Mexico) from the skiing until the season starts in the US/Canada. There will be updates as soon as the skiing kicks off again.
