Treble Cone announced today that the fresh snowfall over the past few days has enabled the ski area to open the Saddle Quad chairlift, now providing guests with access to full mountain facilities.
With 25cm of fresh snowfall overnight across the mountain, Treble Cone operations staff worked frantically today to prepare the Saddle Basin for opening this afternoon.
“With all chairlifts now operating for the first time this season, skiers and snowboarders are in great spirits”, says Area Manager Jackie van der Voort. “There’s now plenty of great skiing and riding conditions for all abilities across the full mountain.”
“Today was the first day of the season where people were enjoying both on and off trail in fresh powder snow. We expect to see even more happy and eager snow enthusiasts here tomorrow.”
While the Saddle Quad opening will provide more terrain for skiers and riders to enjoy, at this stage the Saddle Basin is recommended for strong intermediate to advanced skiers and riders who enjoy off-piste conditions.
Snow depth at the top of the Saddle Quad & Volkswagen Express is currently 65cm, and now provides some of the best skiing and riding conditions available in the southern lakes and New Zealand.
Treble Cone advises visitors to observe all closures and unmarked hazards, to ski and ride to the conditions and within their ability at all times.
