Math and free skiing competitions have more in common than you think. The past 4 days at the Red Mountain Free skiing Challenge can easily be factored into one economical equation. Let me explain this to you:
Red Comp Final Veideo 16mgsThere is a series of addition factors:
• Competitors who gathered from all over Canada and the United States for the event, in total 21 ladies and 80 males.
• The Rossland population skyrocketing by 101 people and all Rossland resources used for these athletes from feeding to housing and entertainment.
• Record amount of photographs shot. Cameras captured the 7 am sunrise, competitors dropping in off of Mount Roberts peak, new friends being made and toes being warmed due to the chilling temperatures.
• Skiers grooving, from the DJ booth at the top of Lynx line (qualification run on day 1) to the floors of Rafters lounge after party
• Extra layers of clothing worn by competitors, officials and spectators.
• Accumulation of female competitors that gathered at the basin of Mount Roberts after there runs.
• Blue bird skies.
• 9 corporate sponsors- Red, Ledcor, Kokanee, Skier Magazine, www.biglines.com , K2, Mountain FM, Gore, Australian wool innovation.
• An ecliptic and competent panel of judges
• The names of Janina Kuzma and Christian Boucher added onto the yearly female and male champions.
Subtraction factors:
• Competitor ski’s lost
• Tyson Boluc from the competition after a backward fall off a cliff, a massive slide into one of chairlift tower and a stop in the Lynx line finish corral.
• Bib’s not turned in, and $20 lost deposit fee
• Negative and bone chilling temperatures
• Sleep due to the early loading of the lifts
• Athletes cut from the competition due to low scoring
Mulitplication Factors:
• Taking into consideration each competitor received 3 beers tickets for the Saturday Bash -that is 3 tickets x 101 competitors averaging out to 303 glasses of Kokanee beer.
• The base compression that occurred from athletes continually skiing Lynx line and Mount Roberts
• One pair of legs, hiking the boot packed formed stair case to the crest of Mount Roberts (ratio depended on athlete)
• The same constant music heard from the DJ’s booth for 3days
• Viewing hits on biglines.com, for summary videos and daily results
Division Factors:
• $10K purse prize divided between Janina Kuzma, Krystal Wright, Crystal-Lee Rose, Christian Boucher, Joel Jacques, Brett Crabtree
• Who will split the drive home…
Math and skiing never had such a cohesive bond until this equation:
21 ladies _ 80 males _ Photograph’s _ Music_ Sponsors _ Judges _ Blue sky _ extra clothes _ Champions- ski’s- Tyson Boluc-$20 – Negative temperatures – Sleep – Cuts – ( 3 beer tickets x 101 competitors)(1 run x Lynx line)(2 runs x Mount Roberts)( 1 pair of legs x 4 hikes up Mount Roberts)(1 DJ booth x 3days of play time)(biglines.com net hits x 2395) * $10K purse prize *Drive home= 4 days as a Freeskiing competitor at Red Mountain’s Canadian open Championship.
