What makes you passionate about skiing?
Here‘s the scenario that I hope will explain: Currently I’m living in
Calgary going to U of C for the fall semester. So after a day of classes and
about 4 hours of homework, I went home, got my shiat together and headed
over to C.O.P. (it was their opening day today). Anyway, I rode a bunch of
nothing; some man made snow, a couple of rails, lots of huck ruts, and I
bonked some garbage cans. All I’m saying is, it’s fun! I don’t care what the
terrain is, there is always something to do on it, always a way to express
yourself. You know when a song is playing on the radio or somewhere in
public , a song that just makes you want to dance? All you want to do is
bust a move but you’ll feel like everyone will look at you all funny when
your the only one dancing. Well, snowboarding, is not giving a fuck about
who’s watching, it’s just about the dancing, cause once you take that first
step it feels oooooh sooo good, and after that it doesn't matter. I guess I’m
passionate about dancing.
What are your aspirations in skiing?
To spread the shred and the fun of snowboarding. Too many people are taking
themselves far too seriously these days because they are good at
skiing/snowboarding. No offence, you are not saving lives you are just
riding on some wood down a mountain. Wake up! My aspiration is to reach my
goals through fun, no bullshit.
Who are your current role models or who inspires you?
My parents, they know what’s up. Jesse Grandkoski (Airblaster) and Jeff
Keenan (Dinosaurs Will Die), sick snowboarders, good people, creative minds,
and successful business men. Joanna Majcherkiwicz, this little tall cookie
has the ability to take over the world, with the ability to stay grounded
and without judgement. Ray, who’s taught me more about life in the shortest
period of time then anyone I’ve ever known.
What is your greatest personal achievement in the mountains? (Competition/Line/Trip)
I definately haven’t acheived it yet.......
How have you dedicated your life to the mountains and adventure?
A big part of me lives for it.
Why have you dedicated your life to mountain pursuits?
I like to dance.
What are some things the mountains have taught you that have proven valuable
in the real world?
-Never judge a book by it’s cover.
-Respect all forms of life.
-Never underestimate anyone.
-You can’t move a house in one day.
-Be prepared.
-Trust your instinct.
How will the scholarship enable you to further pursue your skiing
aspirations?
$1000 is a lot of gas money for the sled.
How can you be a Biglines.com ambassador?
I can be really really loud especially when I’m excited.
Comments- Thanks for organizing this event. It’s nice to see more support for the
ladies.
