Whistler Blackcomb is revelling in a snow storm that is quickly covering the mountains in a thick coat of fresh snow. Since the snow began falling last night, over 50 centimetres or 20 inches has been measured at the Pig Alley weather station at 1650m. Much to the delight of Whistler locals, the snow continues to fall in the village as well on the mountain with the Environment Canada alpine forecast calling for up to 110 centimetres or 43 inches of snow over the next five days.

“This snow is a major boost for early season conditions at Whistler Blackcomb,” says Stuart Rempel, Whistler Blackcomb’s senior vice president of marketing and sales. “The forecast for the week is very positive with a series of disturbances keeping the alpine very snowy through this weekend and into early next week. The conditions will be prime for the upcoming US Thanksgiving holiday and our official opening weekend.”

As snow covers the mountains, thoughts are ever increasingly turning to the imminent 2006-2007 ski and snowboard season when the brand new Symphony Express quad chair in the back bowls of Whistler Mountain will be introduced. Significant savings can be realized on a Whistler vacation by booking lift and lodging packages by November 15. Savings of up to 36 per cent are available at whistlerblackcomb.com, or by calling 1-888-284-9999. Edge Cards for Canadian and Washington residents are available at the early bird price until November 15.

“Whistler Blackcomb’s early season offers, like our book by deals and the Edge Card, coupled with this snowfall, really sets the stage for a solid winter of skiing and riding,” says Rempel. “Our official opening day is November 23 but, with this kind of system working its magic on the mountain, opening day could be just around the corner.”

Skiers and riders eager to keep an eye on Whistler Blackcomb as the storm continues, can stay up to date by checking out web cams and operational updates at whistlerblackcomb.com. The snow phone will also be updated regularly and can be reached by calling 604-687-7507 (Vancouver) or 604-932-4211 (Whistler).

This is fucking pathetic! So much for any acknowledgement of Rememberance Day in the post except the subject line. All I saw was references to the almighty dollar. Have you forgot what events have occured which allow you the freedom to ski in the first place. It take's less than 2hrs to attend a Rememberance Day parade/ceremony. It take's a full day to drink with and (if you're lucky) understand a veterans POV. It take's less than a paragragh to acknowledge Rememberance Day, especially in a spam article.
