WHISTLER, BC, March 9, 2006, – The snow keeps falling in Whistler as the mountains crack a 300 centimetres (3 metre) base this week, just in time for the spring break holiday. Whistler Blackcomb has received 104 centimetres (41 inches) of snow since the beginning of March, and 687 centimetres (270 inches) since January 1. The mountains have received a whopping 941 centimetres (370 inches) of snow since the beginning of the season, which surpasses the resort’s annual average, with 87 days left in regular operations. Whistler is a winter wonderland for families during spring break this March and the only thing missing is any sign of spring weather.

“The snow just keeps on coming, and conditions couldn’t be better,” says Sara Aldridge from Whistler Blackcomb’s snow and weather communications office. “Snow has been falling all week and more is in the forecast – fantastic news for those planning a ski holiday in the latter part of the season to Whistler Blackcomb. The conditions are prime for experts seeking thrills in the many alpine bowls, chutes and glades, or beginners looking for wide open runs and soft snow to learn on. With 8,171 acres, over 200 trails and 5,280 vertical feet of skiing and riding, we have it all!”

All-new Coca Cola Tube Park

Fantastic fun for the whole family, the tube park is an adrenaline, fun-filled activity located on Blackcomb Mountain. Take the Excalibur Gondola from the main village up to Base 2 followed by a short walk to the tube park. Height requirement for children is 42 inches. Families can enjoy 10% off ticket prices. Open Monday – Friday from noon to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday’s from 11am – 8pm

Magic Castle on Blackcomb Mountain and Tree Fort on Whistler Mountain

Kids of all ages will wonder at these snowy, magical playgrounds. Hidden deep in the woods, high up in the mountains, these great outdoor adventure play lands are not to be missed. The Magic Castle and Tree Fort are free and fun for all ages. Open daily during regular mountain operations

Family Zone

Check out the Whistler Mountain Family Zone which has increase in size this year and has been moved to Ego Bowl. This move separates the Family Zone from the entrance to the Whistler Mountain Habitat Terrain Park, creating better flow for each of the user groups – advanced skiers and riders heading into the Terrain Park, and families with children and/or beginners heading into the Family Zone. The Family Zone includes favourites such as Ego Bowl, Enchanted Forest, Bean Sprout, Cougar Run and Lower Emerald Lift Line, providing variety for all skill levels within the family.

Adventure Camps for Kids 3-12 Years of Age

Two, three and five day Adventure Camps are the perfect way for kids 3-12 years of age to learn to ski or kids 6-12 years of age to learn to ride and improve their skill level. Ride Tribe

Designed specifically for 13-18 year olds, Ride Tribe’s two and five day camps gives teenagers the ability to enjoy skiing/riding with the same instructor and group for the whole camp. Sticky Buns at the Chic Pea

Located in the Family Zone on Whistler Mountain at the bottom of Upper Whisky Jack, the Chic Pea cabin has a huge sun deck and serves world-renowned cinnamon buns. This is the perfect meeting spot for a mid-afternoon sticky finger snack. Open daily during regular mountain operations

Crystal Hut Waffles
