BANFF,* *Alberta* – *24 cm’s of cool, fresh Canadian Rockies’ powder
embraced all three mountains in one night at Sunshine Village Ski &
Snowboard Resort. Snow has continued to fall heavily through the week, with more snow
expected to blast the resort.
Cheers, hoots, and hollers were heard ringing throughout the resort.
“Rolling Thunder” on Goat’s Eye, Mt. Standish’s “Laryx,” and Lookout
Mountain’s “Bye Bye Bowl,” were just some of the runs that harbored
white nirvana. Boot deep powder was plentiful throughout the resort,
with deeper pockets found in the trees, secret stashes, and in
Sunshine’s numerous bowls.
Snow Safety was hard at work preparing Delirium Dive, doing important
avalanche control work to keep the Dive Open. Skiers
and riders will be treated to incredible conditions once it reopens. A
strong possibility the season’s best snow conditions await.
For those wanting to experience Delirium, but are not sure of their
skill level – or lacking the mandatory avalanche beacon, shovel, pack,
and partner – a guided program called “Delirium Sundays” is available.
If weather and snow conditions permit, a quick skill assessment is
provided, along with an orientation of the supplied equipment. The rest
of the day is spent exploring, breaking only for an included lunch in
the Eagle’s Nest restaurant.
Regardless of your ability, now is the perfect time to experience
“Canada’s Best Snow.”
