Mt. Baker in Washington State opened today (tuesday nov. 8th) and the only thing that can be said about it..... DEEP!!!
With 183 cm at the base, and over 2 meters at the top, Mt. Baker opened with the most snow they have had on an opening day in over 30 years!! AND they currently have the WORLD'S DEEPEST snowpack! lets just say.. everyone had a real good time ;) I will let the pics tell the story......
Only a quick 2 hour drive from Vancouver, Mt Baker is a "small" ski area with BIG terrain, and DEEP snow! it holds the world record for snowfall with 1, 140 INCHES in the 98/99 season. check out mtbater.us for some more info.

It was sick kids... I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday... Wed was a little heavy and hard but still good. Then Thursday after my 8 hr drive + 1.5hrs in customs I managed to ski Sunshine on Thursday... which was a sick opening as the snow quality was the best of best and then well... I ski'd Louise on Friday. No comment about Louise other then RCR better stop lying about the snow report. Today... my body is in much pain

It was sweet, very sweet. We got up there at 7:45 which was a very good thing cause the mtn was overwhelmed with people by 8:30.(up to an hour wait for lift tickets) I don't think the staff/management was expecting such a crowd. But the first 2 runs were just amazing no tracks and it was so deep that you could pretty much ski anything aggresively. Wow the pillow lines there are just incredible. Such a good day. But my body is feeling the punishment today big time. It was a huge first day of the season for me. 9 to 2:30 non stop.
