The Free Ski Open is New Zealand's premier snow event and embraces every aspect of freeskiing: halfpipe, triple-hit slopestyle, a rail jam and the only heli-accessed big-mountain freestyle competition in the world.

The aim of the Open is to create a world class event attracting the
world's best skiers, giving New Zealand skiers an opportunity to compete
at the highest level. A spectacular event for spectators, TV viewers and
competitors this event will raise the profile of skiing in New Zealand
and promote New Zealand as a premier ski destination.

The other Down Under has stepped up as the premier summer ski
destination for Northern Hemisphere skiers desperate for a snow fix.
This season the mountainous South Pacific country is attracting every
pro, bro, ho and schmo from the international freeskiing pornstar
circuit. Some are even welcome.

Snow Park a dedicated freestyle resort - is the centre of the jib
action. In 2004 Tanner Hall, Pep Fujas and JP Auclair spent time
training here and rated this unique facility located deep in Lord of the
Rings territory. They probably rubbed shoulders with The Egg, Shaun
White, who shot most of his film “The White Album” in the resort.

Don't be fooled into thinking Snow Park is the only attraction. New
Zealand is stacked with pristine backcountry heli skiing, tattoo
parlours and pie shops. All the essentials for people who prefer an
adventure to a holiday. There's also the NZ Open - NZ's national
freeskiing competition.

The NZ Open embraces every aspect of freeskiing: halfpipe, triple-hit
slopestyle, a rail jam, and the only heli-accessed big-mountain
freestyle competition in the world. Breaking with tradition, judges in
this competition will amply reward freestyle tricks smoothly integrated
into the big mountain environment. A unique comp, in a unique
environment, attracting the world's best. We'll see you there unless
you're a summer throwback trapped like a hapless water buffalo stuck in
the mud in the northern hemi summer...

Good luck finding snow for the big mountain. It's up the sh** in NZ and Australia at the moment. Only a few snowfalls, warm and wet weather and a poor base. Hope the high alpine has caught a bit more than the resorts over in NZ.
