Here is some brief info about La Grave taken from the La Grave Website.

La Grave – La Meije is an exceptional ski area that is unique in the world. For a long time, its beauty and snow quality have attracted an enlightened clientele from the four corners of the world. Some of them came for a day or a week, and then they never left......

Dates of Operation:
Open from December 20th - May 8th

"La Grave is a super Gnarly mountain with dangerous and exposed terrain. It is easy to get lost and find yourself in a situation that threatens your life. Be sure to be careful." - Eric Crosland

Here is the words of advice from the mountain:

Never set out alone, always be accompanied by an experienced person. Find out about weather and snow conditions and don’t hesitate to ask ski patrollers or mountain guides for advice. Don’t forget your safety trio – avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. Don’t over-estimate your ability. Know when to give up! and have a good time!>

In a setting of high mountains and glaciers, with long lasting snow and larch forests, the Vallons de la Meije offers some of the longest ski runs in Europe with a vertical drop of 2150 metres amid awe-inspiring scenery. Lovers of off-piste skiing, will find the perfect playground, far from the beaten track. There is often an abundance of fresh snow on these 9 km long runs, including glacier skiing, steep chutes, deep combs, and skiing in the larch forest. Fresh tracks are not uncommon!

Hiring a mountain guide is highly recommended to help you explore the best skiing La Meije has to offer.
