One day I get a call from Tim telling me he's found the sickest line out in K-Country. Tell's me it's a mellow 40 - 45 degrees chute that you might be able to ski from the summit. So we go check it out, and he's kind of right, it's one of the most beautiful and perfect lines I've ever seen. Only it's closer to 55 and super knarly. We had an adventure, and Tim laid a bold line from the summit. If your looking to get a little scared, this ones for you.

Stash This

FD: Tim Grey, we think
Height: tops out around 10,000 ft

Access: Smith Dorrien Highway, Kananaskis. We accessed the route via the Robertson Glacier, dropping down to the Haig and accross it to the bottom of the line.

Characteristics: year round glacier ice chute and face

Best time: steep season in the Canadian Rockies ? Spring or Fall.

The Run: The run starts out from the summit, on a very exposed piece of snow with 1500 ft of air below. Then traverses into an amazing 1500 foot steep couloir with a gaping crevasse at the bottom.

Time: 2 day trip, unless your a machine, there's lot's of other lines on the Haig to explore.

Objective Hazards:
There are 4 major aspects to be careful of on this line:
- Huge bergschrund at the bottom of the line is a constant reminder that you don't want to fall
- The coulior is very steep 55 degrees +/- and is not a place to make a mistake
- The summit pitch has a 1500 ft cliff below it, Tim skied from the summit, I wasn't feeling it that day and waited at the top of the coulior filming my last words, until he made it back down.
- You are a long ways back, and no one is gonna hear you scream so don't get hurt
