W/B No New Snow? No Problem!

Husume Couloir.

Blackcomb. After the snow stopped:

First, there was snow. Then there was none. No new snow, at least. What's a person to do? Walk. That's what. Or ski the park, but who does that?

Chainsaw ridge was good for some laps, as was Spanky's and the glacier. But we hungered for more vertical or more exercise or something. DOA was shralped because it has been a bone-numbingly-cold -12〫C at the peak and it's in the sun for most of the day. The wind was blowing from the SE so Husume seemed like a good idea. The first few turns were sweet pow then, as usual, the lower 2/3rds of the couloir were wind-buffed and grabby. It wasn't really the kind of conditions that allow a person to let loose because the wind crust would grab your skis and throw off your balance. But it's skiing, and skiing is good times no matter what.

I'm currently looking at a perfectly clear sky out the window and there's no new snow in the forecast.  This couch-surfing high pressure system is here to stay, and he hasn't even brought us a case of beer. At least we've got a bomber base, right?
