Biglines Field Correspondent Mikeynix recently had a chance to catch up with Voleurz' Darren "The Brain Drain" Rayner over a digital glass of Scotch. The following interview is the result of said scotch-fueled conversation and will likely see both Mikeynix and the Brain Drain bestowed with awards in the field of amazing awesomeness.
There’s a buzz on the Net right now about your Online Release. When’s that going down?
November 21st. That's next Monday at 3pm, PST.
And how’s it gonna work? Please use the word “bandwidth” in your answer.
Well, Mike. What we're going to do is click a button on Vimeo that makes the film visible to anyone in the world with an internet connection (bandwidth dependent). Then our good friends over at Newschoolers, Freeskier, Push.ca, Biglines, Snowboard Magazine, and SBC will help us to spread the love. It's all about the love.
How’d you come up with the name That’s Fine? Did you finish like 2/3rds of the movie and then say “meh, That’s Fine”, and call it done?
As we did with Outdoor Graduation we hosted an online poll on the Voleurz Facebook page. We conjured up a list of our six favourite titles, and let the people decide. That's Fine ended up on top of the list, so That's Fine it was.
Hmmmmm. That is fine. So after the Whistler Premiere at the Longhorn this Sunday, Nov.20th, the Canadian Tour will have wrapped up for you, right? Who was the MVP of said tour and why?
That's right, The Longhorn is always the end of the line on our premiere tour. The MVP this year was a tough decision, however the crown has been handed to skateboarder and Team Manager of Cariboo Beer, Tyler Holm. He held a bright torch and led the Voleurz Family into the deepest corners of the blackzone. Tyler is such a treat, and a wizard on his skateboard.
Josh Stack, Greasy little Hand Drag Three on a GT
Ahhhh yes, speaking of wizardry, someone tweeted the other day that Josh Stack had dropped all his ski sponsors and now rides exclusively for GT Snowracer. Are you in a position to comment?
This is a false accusation. Josh Stack has moved on to be a professional chess player.

This KC Deane character. What an animal! I’m calling his segment the standout for the movie. Where did you find that guy and what on God’s green earth does he eat for breakfast?
He actually doesn't eat at all. After a long day in the backcountry we jam a power cord into his ear and he recharges overnight, kinda like an iPhone. KC Deane was in fact an experiment by a massive robotic corporation based in Idaho. They were attempting to create the next US president. Instead they created a maniac on skis. "It's ALIVE!"
So, you guys have snowboarding AND skiing in your movie. Yet in spite of the fact that you have skateboarding in there, fans will be sorely disappointed by the lack of rollerblading.
Please explain.
Does Ron Jeremy ONLY sleep with blondes? I believe the answer is NO.
The key is diversity, whether working in the porn industry or the snow industry. You gotta try new things while staying true to your roots…. But blading is out of the question, sorry.
Incorrect! What about Bob goes Blading?

Well…it is pretty darn funny to dress your Dad in knee pads and blades and send him down the street. It was primarily for comic relief, not to progress the sport of rollerblading.

I’d say it’s still some pretty groundbreaking stuff though. Anyways, in the Volympics section of That’s Fine, it looks as if Reed Speedman tries to lie down on the fire. This behavior puzzles me.
Please explain.
Well, I feel like we’ve adequately covered the questions about the movie. Tell me a bit about your clothing line this year. Be warned, however, that if you use the word “edgy” in your answer I’m gonna drive down to Vangroovy and kick Harvey Li in the balls.
The line has progressed a lot over the past two seasons, offering the tees and hoodies that we've become known for, while designing flannels, wovens, jackets and more fashion-forward pieces for those who want to wear something a touch more distinctive. I'd say an easy way to summarize our line is with the following: attention to detail, wearability, and a little bit edgy.
That was a very mean thing you just did to Harvey Li.
Harvey is in China, so you’re gonna want to book a one-way pretty soon.
Rats. I guess I’ll just put that one in the bank. OK. This has nothing to do with the movie or anything, but I heard that Bruce Giovando (Voleurz Designer) pooped out of his bedroom window whilst living with his parents. Please confirm this, and if he so chooses, Gio can comment on the details.
I plead the Fifth amendment.
On Gio’s Behalf? Weak Sauce.
