Stupid Amounts of Snow at Whistler Blackcomb!

Just to give a small idea of the kind of snow conditions yesterday (before another 51cms fell...) I macguyvered a chest-cam with my panasonic LX3 camera, and as you can see I haven't mastered it yet.

(Just wait til tomorrow's forecast!!!)

Today on Whistler the snow was so deep that if you weren't careful you'd stop dead in your tracks.  If your ski tip took a slight digger you'd find yourself buried neck deep in snow and it would take ages to get yourself out again. (I know because it happened to me in VD trees.)

Shredded in the morning with the Rocky Mountain Sherpas, and Dave Treadway took us for a bit of an adventure before lunch, he's got a video on the way that we'll be posting on Biglines soon. The afternoon offered many more laps of pow-awesomeness, despite the morning gondola lineup reaching all the way to village square at 9am! I'm sure a lot of businesses in Whistler, Squamish, and Vancouver were terribly short-staffed today because of people claiming "H1N1." If Swine Flu is as sick as Whistler has been, bring it on!

In 8 years skiing this resort, I've never experienced more insane powder days in such close succession.  The 09/10 season is shaping up to be killer. Avalanche danger is high to extreme right now, and patrol are correct in keeping things closed in the alpine.  For those of you thinking of crossing into closed terrain, think again. Watch for ditches on the ski-out, and have fun out there kids!
