On our first run of the day I skied past what looked like a spot where a small animal had rested over night. From the bottom of the run we saw this spot and thought it might have been a mountain sheep. However, after close inspection with some binoculars, we concluded the sheep must have just rested there for a while.
When I got to the bottom of my run we looked back up to see a large grizzly bear pop out of this tiny hole we had been looking at. It was located right in the middle of a steep slope.
Daryl Treadway was on top of the line and got to ski right past the bear. Afterward we got some footage very close to the animal and it showed us a thing or two about sliding on snow as it climbed another mountain in front of us and slid down it.
