Dakine Concourse Double Wheeled Ski Bag- REVIEW

The Concourse Double wheeled ski bag from Dakine is the mother of all ski bags. This bag will fit all you need for the ski trip of a life time. Your only issue is keeping the weight down to check it at the airport. I dragged mine around the world this winter and put it through its paces and lived to tell the tale. Check out the many pros, and occasional con of the Concourse Double.

Black Diamond Mad Max Glove Review

The name says it all. The Mad Max glove from Black Diamond is burly, arrogant and walks the walk. While this glove can handle whips and chains, it is best utilized dishing out that kind of treatment day in day out. Check out the comfiest and blurliest glove out there.

Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Assisted Ski Touring Review

This week I had the privilege to check out a new heli-assisted ski touring program from Selkirk Tangiers in Revelstoke, BC. The idea is that a helicopter takes you in and out of a zone where you are left to ski tour all day with a guide. There's a few reasons why it's worth considering this as an option for a good day touring.

Gnarly Video of a 4:28-minute Avalanche Burial at Haines Pass, AK

This video provided by Chappy, owner of Porters Tahoe, a shop in the Lake Tahoe Area. This is POV footage of a skier who gets caught in a slide, buried for four and a half minutes with his avalung only in the corner of his mouth for the entirety, and then his subsequent rescue. The video is a friendly reminder that it's time to stock up on some fresh batteries for your transceiver, and be sure to slip some spares into your backcountry backpack, too.

Billy Poole Profile

You may or may not have heard of Billy Poole. I know I had, but I didn't really know what his story was. I bumped into Billy in Las Lenas over the summer and put a red headed face to the name. A rowdy big mountain skier with an insatiable appetite for long boot-packs, he had just returned from skiing the epic Adrenalina Couloir after leaving at 4am direct from the bar. After flying a helicopter out of a huge avalanche last winter in BC, Billy is lucky to be here. So come meet Billy Poole.

This summer, Swedish extreme skier Fredrik Ericsson will embark on his dream of becoming the first person to ski the world’s three highest mountains: Mount Everest, K2 and Kangchenjunga.
