May is prime time for steep skiing in the Rockies, and can often be the climax of the season for adrenaline seeking steep junkies. In fact, there aren’t too many other months where quality powder sticks to dozens of easily accessible 50-degree ice faces. Precip levels in the spring of 2010 had been well above average, and temperatures had been generally warm; the sum of which equals a large part of the formula for snow sticking to these coveted big lines. Locals in this region from (Calgary to Revelstoke) were certainly taking advantage / getting their fill.
