3PO @ the 2010 Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival

Countdown!

A relatively new addition to TWSSF and currently in its second year, Three Point Oh is slowly gaining popularity in Whistler. The winner this year was a simple yet clever stick figure animation by David O’Dowd.  The crowd voted winner was Pillow Lines by photographer Kari Medig, which recently won the photo showdown at this year’s Cold Smoke Powder Festival. The crowd was a little dumfounded at the judge’s decision, but at least the crowd favourite got a prize as well.

3PO is definitely an interesting mix of media arts, and the coolest thing is you have no idea what to expect. Skiing images is just where it begins, after that the creator has the freedom to produce whatever they want from at least three points of origin. Some of the entries can get a little crazy, but you can be surprised at some of the art these guys come up with.

The audience also got a blast from the past by getting to watch and pick their favorite 72hr film maker winners from the last 8 years. Jonny Fleet's  The Staff: A Ski Bum Musical naturally won the crowd again.

The clear winner. See?
